I had a lot of fun today in Vienna. I took a bus & the U-bahn (underground) to the hotel from the airport, getting in mid-morning - they had a room for me immediately!
I had a look at the small Wien Museum. Some nice things there... I liked the suits of armor. I went and found lunch at a cafe kitty-corner from the Staatsoper (State opera house). I had the obligatory Wiener Schnitzel. This fueled me up for the three hour bike tour, pictures here.
It was a really nice day, very sunny and warm (about 80F). It was a lot of fun.
Then for dinner I found a wurst stand and had a spicy smoked sausage, a Kaiser roll, and a Coke on a park bench Stadtpark for 5.90 Euros. Really nice sausage... really nice mustard... really nice roll. Mmmmmm...
My only slightly negative was that Austrian Airlines' planes are old & beat up (well-worn 767 with tiny overhead luggage compartments), and their Toronto ground team sucked! But the cabin service was fine. We didn't become fish food for North Atlantic cod.
