Sunday, 6/26/11: Drove from Houston to Hampton Inn on N. Padre Island. Always fun going over the Aransas Pass ferry. Late afternoon on the beach. Dinner at Doc's by the Intracoastal Waterway. It was a very long wait for food. It was mediocre, and that's being generous.
Monday, 6/27/11: Alex was snoring so loudly the paint was flaking off the walls, so I left the room at 3 AM to go fishing. I caught three Skipjacks, these little fish put up one heck of a fight! Two more got away, one might have been something bigger than a Skipjack, it was pretty hefty and it bit through the line. Later that day, I brought the family, and Audrey caught a Sand Sea Trout and a Pinfish. I caught a couple Atlantic Spadefish. We watched the Corpus Christi Hooks at Whataburger Field, which was fine until the 8th inning when they imploded and got creamed by the Frisco Rough Riders after having been up 2-0. The final was 3-6, I think. We didn't stay until the end, it was too depressing. Nice small-town feel to the ballpark, though. A real slice of Americana. Everyone should go to a Minor League Ballgame!
Tuesday, 6/28/11: Texas State Aquarium, lunch at Water Street Seafood Company. Beach afternoon. Dinner was veggie pizza (good) from local place across from hotel and leftover from Water Street. 10 PM went out for fishing but I was SO TIRED and it was windy and nothing was biting. Went to hotel midnight.
Wednesday, 6/29/11: Short morning beach trip. Fantastic lunch at Green Papaya, Corpus. Superb pan-asian restaurant. Then the long drive home.
Great little vacation.
